Survivor: South Pacific Winner

After watching the final episode of Survivor: South Pacific, I'm glad that Sophie Clarke won.  She played a good game both strategically and physically.

The Demon Jury Duty

Today Gene Simmons of KISS tweeted "Dec 13th- Jury Duty. Yes. I'm in a holding room at Courthouse. My civic duty."  Even celebrities get called for jury duty

Stephen Colbert Tweet

Earlier tonight Stephen Colbert tweeted "Anderson Cooper calls himself a journalist and yet he can't even say or spell 'Ridiculous' correctly."  I found this tweet funny yet sad at the same tame.  What has American journalism come to?

Amy Lee Sings "Hello" at Home

I found this video of Amy Lee singing her Evanescence song "Hello" while at home with her family.  I found it really nice to see her with her family and how supportive her family is of her and her career.

Taylor Swift and Hayley Williams

I found this video while surfing on youtube.  Taylor Swift invited Hayley Williams of Paramore to come perform "Thats What You Get" at her concert.  Even though they are close in age (Taylor was born in December 1989 and Hayley was born in December of 1988) they perform/dance to the song in totally different ways, which I find really strange.  Haley is all "hardcore rocker" while Taylor is all "miss innocent".  I found this strange since it is the exact same song, should be performed in the same way and in my opinion should only be performed as a a head banging song like from 1:47 to 1:53.

Janie Jones

I saw the movie Janie Jones tonight. The movie stars Abigail Breslin from Little Miss Sunshine. Its a really good movie and was shot in Iowa, USA. I highly recommend it.

Evanescence Behind the Scenes

I found this video really interesting.

Funky Fresh Senior Choir

This is the worst choir ever.  They attempt to sing "Loose Yourself" by Eminem, "Ridin' Dirty" by Chamillionaire, "Hey Ya" by Outcast, "Don't Cha" by the Pussycat Dolls, "Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer, and "Its Hot in Herre" by Nelly.  I can't believe they were trying to enter a contest.  I, also, find it hilarious that at the end of the video they put "We are available for weddings, private parties, and bar mitzvahs."  Who would really book them?

Michelle Duggar Miscarries

What I don't get is why would someone, like Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, what 20 kids.  I don't.  I don't want more than 3 or 4 kids,  if that.

Emma Sullivan and the Power of Social Media

If you are unaware of whats going on with Emma Sullivan, the short story is she posted a nasty tweet towards the Kansas (a state in the US) governor.  She got in trouble with her school.  For a better understanding please watch the following videos:

From KSHB NBC Action News (Kansas City Affiliate):

From CNN:

Today CBS reported the following today:

Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback apologized on Monday for having "over-reacted" to 18-year-old Emma Sullivan, a high school student who had earlier been asked to apologize for making a disparaging remark about the conservative politician over Twitter.
"My staff over-reacted to this tweet and for that I apologize," Brownback said in a written statement, "freedom of speech is among our most treasured freedoms."

I totally support her not apologizing about her tweet and think that the governors office over reacted way to much.  Her tweet was perfectly justified and is highly protected by the 1st amendment because her tweet was political speech.  (The US 1st amendment provides free speech among other things).  Also, to bounce off of Brownback's comment, Twitter, Facebook and other social media is an important part of free democratic government and is an important tool in getting things changed like we have seen with Arab Spring.

Everytime We Touch editing error

If you watch from 3:03 to 3:08 in Cascada's video "Everytime We Touch" you will notice an editing error. From 3:03 to 3:05 the Asian girl is taking the chair off the dance floor.  From 3:05 to 3:06 the Asian girl is dancing on the dance floor.  Then on 3:07 the Asian girl is walking on to the dance floor from where she left the chair.  If the people making the video wanted all three shots in the video, they should have appeared  in the following order:  taking the chair off the dance floor, girl walking back onto the dance floor, and girl dancing.

KISS family photo

I found this picture of Awkward Family Photos.  On one hand I find this hilarious and awesome, but extremely sad on the other.

Darling Parade

I found out about Darling Parade, because they started following me on Twitter.  Darling Parade is a band from Nashville Tennessee (USA).  They have a really good sound and their music has been featured on many TV shows.  I hope they do well and have much success.

History through Facebook

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook and I found this incredibly creative.  Its from http://www.stumbleupon.com/  (http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/2ooeAE/freespace.virgin.net/markr.rowe/fb-history/fb-history.htm)

Ellen Scares the New Staffer!

As a viewer, and prankster myself, I find this hilarious.  However, I do feel bad for Allison (the new employee) since at the time she was new and most likely did not know the staff plays pranks on each other and on guest of the show.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show

It looks like they have a fun work environment at Ellen. I wish more places had this type of work environment.

Blogger Analytics vs Google Analytics

With Blogger they provide analytics for your blog.  However, the Blogger analytics are not as detailed as Google Analytics.  I use both to track analytics for this blog.  However, even though Blogger and "Google Analytics" are owned and operated by Google, they do not match up.

For the November 20, Blogger analytics shows that I had 22 pages views.  Google Analytics says I had 7 page views.

I find it strange that two analytics programs owned and operated by the same company do not match up.

Future of TV

A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine who works at a local TV station and I were talking about what we thought the future of TV was, because of all the different services like Hulu and Netflix coming about. I mentioned that I had watched the Amanda Knox court decision handed down streamed live from Italy on my iPhone. I stated I thought live streaming on mobile devices and computers is the way that all TV stations are going to be presenting their content in the future and eventually no one would have a TV. Everyone would just watch the networks and local affiliates on their computer or mobile device.

After that conversation even more evidence has come about to help support my claim. I watched the court decision being handed down in the Conrad Murray case streamed live on my iPhone, and watched the red carpets of "Twilight: Breaking Dawn" and the American Music Awards (AMA) streamed live on my computer.

I will not be suppressed if within the next 20 years there will no longer be TVs and everyone is watching "TV" on their computers or mobile device.

Evanescence album "Evanescence"

Evanescence released a new album called "Evanescence" on October 11, 2011.  I was looking at their website tonight for concert dates and they only have two concerts scheduled, one is tonight (October 20) and the other is tomorrow (October 21).  They, also, have no future concerts scheduled.  I find this really strange, since bands usually go on tour shortly after releasing a new album.

Evanescence "Everybody's Fool"

The video for "Everybody's Fool" is definitely my favorite Evanescence music video and probably my favorite music video of all time.  The song is amazing and has a great message.  The video it self is amazingly shot, Amy Lee does an excellent job acting, and the video represents the meaning of the song really well.

Evanescence "Where Will You Go"

"Where Will You Go", along with "Everybody's Fool" are my two favorite Evanescence songs.  They both have good messages in their lyrics, they have great music, and, at least to me as someone in the media, are relatable.

Cascada - Everytime We Touch Live

I really like this performance.  Natalie did an excellent job and so did the dancers.  However, the one thing that I did not like was where the three male dancers picked her up (1:49-1:54).  Picking her up did not fit the choreography.

WOI-DT on Colbert Report

After living in Iowa for a few years, and watching WOI every night, these are my favorite clips from the Colbert Report. Not only do I enjoy Stephen Colbert, I enjoy the whole WOI news team and watching them every night.

Opinion of the Media

Last night I posted:
Moonwhisper is Within Temptation tribute band from Brazil.  I came across them when I was on twitter (@TPapageorgeo) and their lead singer Tyta Montrase tweeted "@WTofficial i have a tribute band here in brazil too, about 8 years now! Hope u guys know that! youtube channel <moonwhisper> ;)".

I looked them up on youtube.  They are horrible.  On a scale of one (1) to ten (10) with ten being the best I would give the band (excluding Tyta the lead singer) a 3.  However, Tyta sounds like a cat being drowned and I would give her a 1.  If she tried out for American Idol, she would be one of those the producers would leave in the show to show how bad some auditions were.

I can not believe they have been around for eight years.  Moonwhisper needs stop playing.  They are doing a big disservice to Within Temptation by being a horrible tribute band.
After every blog post, I tweet about it.  The tweet from last night read:
This morning I got a response from Tyta Montrase, the lead singer on Moonwhisper, saying:
@ TPapageorgeo  u can have ur opinion as u like. ;)

The way I am reading her response is she doesn't care that I do not like them and gave them a negative review.  She should though.  Many people read review blogs and websites like Rotton Tomatoes, Ain't It Cool News, and other review websites like mine (mine is read by people in seven countries on four continents) and take them seriously.  If people read a negative review on their site of choice they will not buy the album, see the concert or movie, etc.  On the contrary if a persons' site of choice gives the album, movie, concert etc. a good review people will be more likely to go to the concert/movie or buy the album.

In short, people should care about what bloggers and the media have to say about them, since bloggers and the media have a big affect on what the public think about bands, movies, and TV shows.

Moonwhisper: Within Temptation Tribute Band

Moonwhisper is Within Temptation tribute band from Brazil.  I came across them when I was on twitter (@TPapageorgeo) and their lead singer Tyta Montrase tweeted "@WTofficial i have a tribute band here in brazil too, about 8 years now! Hope u guys know that! youtube channel <moonwhisper> ;)".

Symphonic Rock Singers

I'm really into symphonic rock especially from Nightwish (the first symphonic rock band that I ever heard), Within Temptation, and Epica.  What I find really strange is that people compare Tarja Turunen (former singer of Nightwish), Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), and  Simmon Simmons (Epica) to each other.  One comment I saw on "Cry for the Moon live at Pinkpop" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9oHNBth2Ak) was "She (Simmon Simmons) sucks Tarja is best singer."

I find it strange that people compare the three, since even though all three bands are classified as symphonic rock, the three groups are so different from each other in the style of their music.  Nightwish uses the combination of a female lead singer and male lead singer really well, Within Temptation has a nice classical feel, and Epica uses a nice blend of a lead female vocalist with screamo male backup vocals.  Personally, I think all three singers are great singers and the bands perform great music.

Kids reaction to Star Wars

I found this kids reaction to finding out Vader was Luke's dad hilarious.

t.A.T.u

Wow.  They really messed up lip syncing for this song.  It must have been really embarrassing.  However, I do like their wardrobe choice for this concert.

Poison

First let me say, I am an Alice Cooper fan.  I went to one of his concerts in 2007 and it was the best concert I have been to.  My favorite song of his is "Poison" and he did a good job performing it live.

I was recently watching videos on youtube and came across Tarja Turunen, former lead singer of Nightwish and now solo artist, singing "Poison."  She did a horrible job performing it and ruined a really good song.  On a side note,  Tarja is horrible at interacting with the crowd.

Blue Man Group

I went and saw the Blue Man Group when I was in Vegas.  Their show is really good and should be seen when in Vegas.  The music was good, the show had a good pace, and was comedic.  They did not play the songs in the video I have posted, but I wish they had.

'Breaking Dawn - Part 1' Worldwide Red Carpet Premiere

I'm watching the Breaking Dawn - Part 1 Worldwide Red Carpet Premiere on Yahoo.  Its really pointless.  They talked to a girl who is an admin on the official Twilight Saga Facebook page.  Who cares about the person who updates the Facebook page?  Also, they showed people who camped out to see the premiere of the movie.  It reminds me of the makeshift cities people participating in the Occupy Wall Street made.  Also, the actors they are talking to are the minor characters.  I don't care about their thoughts on the movie.

Taylor Swift on Ellen

I found this video on youtube today.  I found it hilarious.  Seriously?  Who falls when they are scared?

Chaostar

I recently started listening to Chaostar, a Greek classical, opera and vocal orchestra, after they stated following me on twitter.  I really like their music, because they have brought a modern feel to classical music.  Their songs are very unique and interesting to listen to.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

As any fan of The Twilight Series knows The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 is coming out this Friday, November 18.  After watching Twilight, I don't like the series.  Firstly I don't like romance movies and don't have any respect for genre.  Secondly, my biggest beef with the series is it has ruined the vampire genre.  Movies in the vampire genre need to have very little or no story, need to be violent and gory, and have many cool special effects.  From what I saw in Twilight, in the previews and what I have read online for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn they definitely have a strong story line, they are not violent and gory, and do not have many cool special effects.  This goes against everything a vampire movie is about.  Lastly it has Kristen Stewart in it.  From watching Kristen Stewart in Twilight, Zathura, and Catch That Kid, I do not think that she is a good actress.  Between being a love story, being a disgrace to the vampire genre, and having Kristen Stewart, The Twilight Saga has struck out in my book.

Nightwish Concerts

First off, let me say I'm a huge Nightwish fan, love their music, and love to watch their concerts online.  However, when they released their tour scheduled for 2011 it pissed me off.  They only have one concert in the hole US and its in LA.  In 2009, they had 10 concerts all over the US and the year before that (2008) they had 22 concerts across the US and many were sold out.

I live in the US Midwest and not going to go to LA to see their concert even though I really want to. However, if they at least did three show in the US (LA, Chicago, and NYC), I would drive to Chicago to see the concert and crash for a night at a friends house after the concert.

Nightwish should schedule more concerts in the US.  Plenty of fans would come to each of the shows.

Piers Morgan Sings "Poker Face"

I found this quite funny.

Cascada Everytime We Touch

I do not get why they decided to have the music video be set at a library.  The song is a love song so it could take place anywhere, so I do not get why they made her boyfriend a librarian.

One thing that I do like about the video is the janitor.  I find him extremely funny.

t.A.T.u All The Things She Said

If you did not know the music duo t.A.T.u is Russian.  Their song "All The Things She Said" has an English version and a Russian version.  I would think having a song in two languages and have them each line up to the music correctly would be difficult to do.

t.A.T.u. music videos

If you listen to the first nine seconds of t.A.T.u.'s music video for All About Us you will hear another song by t.A.T.u. on the car radio.  The song is All The the Things She Said.  I find it quite comedic that they self promote their songs within other songs.

National Geographic: Inside North Korea

National Geographic: Inside North Korea is a documentary made in 2007.  The documentary is an inside look into North Korea.  The people making the movie tagged along with a doctor who was granted rare entrance into the country to perform humanitarian work.  The crew and doctor had government officials with them at all time and the crew was threatened a few time to be kicked out based on questions they asked and what footage they were shooting.

Its a must see if you have not seen it already.

Nightwish Storytime

A behing the scenes look at Nightwish's video for Storytime was released the other day.  It looks amazing, especially the makeup, costuming, and lighting.  Looks like another great video and song from Nightwish.

Nightwish's Imaginaerum

I'm really looking forward to Nightwish's new album "Imainaerum."  It is going to be released laster this month in their home country of Finland and then start being released around the world in December and  January.

From videos that I have watched online of their new material, they have kept much of their old sound while adding a story to the album and making it slightly dark.  I'm glad to see the band pay tribute to where they have came from while keeping up with current music trends.
